A Message from the Director of Athletics Eric Gobiel
March 18, 2021
Friends, Families, and Supports of Nichols Athletics:
I hope you and your families are healthy and well! While our spring sport seasons have recently begun, we are greatly looking forward to hosting our first home spring contests in over one calendar year! As you can imagine, a lot of planning and preparation has gone into this and we are very hopeful for a healthy and successful spring for all!
I am reaching out today to send along a brief update to our fans as we have two primary goals for this spring. First, we want to keep everyone on campus as safe and healthy as possible to ensure our students can continue to enjoy their on-campus college experience. Attending in-person classes and competing in athletics are vital to the success of our students and our campus. Our second goal is to have ALL our teams competing in some capacity this spring.
In order to reach these goals, we have decided as a College and as the Commonwealth Coast Conference not to allow fans at events this spring. While we understand this is disappointing for all, at this time it is what is felt best to give us the greatest chance to successfully meet these goals. We certainly want to give our spring students-athletes and coaches the best chance at playing for a CCC Championship come the end of the regular season in late April and early May.
Please also know, this protocol will be followed at each of the CCC schools in order to give our conference the best opportunity to compete as safely as possible. With that said, this is something that we here at Nichols and the CCC will be monitoring closely as the season goes on and will share any updates/changes (if any) when possible.
In the meantime, I hope you will tune in to catch our Bison compete on our live Webcasts! Links for the broadcasts can be found on our Athletics Calendar.
I thank you in advance for your understanding and it is my hope that we will be able to invite you all back into the stands soon!
