Important Information About COVID-19

IMPORTANT: To return to campus, employees must complete online training provided by Human Resources. For more information, contact Darcy Vangel or read the return to work policy.

The health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff are of utmost importance at Nichols College. To ensure this, we have created the following guidelines for employees who are returning to work on campus during the COVID-19 pandemic. Guidelines may change based on recommendations and requirements from federal, state, and local governments, as well as the medical community. Please reference this page often for updates, including guidelines for faculty in classrooms.

You must be asymptomatic of any potential COVID-19 symptoms for at least 14 days before coming to campus. Symptoms must be monitored daily. Symptoms include:

  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Fever in excess of 100 degrees
  • Chills
  • Muscle pain
  • Sore throat
  • New loss of taste or smell

If you have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, you should report this to your supervisor or Human Resources immediately and you will be instructed to remain off campus for at least 14 days and until certified negative results are received.

  • Employees who work on campus will be required to complete COVID-19 testing once a week (twice weekly for athletic coaches and some members of the student life team)
  • Social distancing requirements must be followed
  • Common areas, including restrooms and breakrooms, should only have one person at a time
  • When social distancing is not possible and/or when in any common area, including hallways, a mask must be worn
  • Each office area should not exceed 50% capacity
    • Staff should rotate working days on campus to reduce capacity
  • Staff should stagger start and end times and breaks to minimize potential contact with others
  • Conference rooms will be closed to meetings until further notice
  • All meetings should continue virtually
  • Physical contact with others should be avoided completely
  • If you develop COVID-19 symptoms you will be sent home and will be advised not to report to campus until you:
    • meet the criteria listed for COVID-19 positive test results

If you have tested positive for COVID-19, you will not be allowed to return to campus until you have met the following:

  • At least 72 hours have passed since you recovered
  • At least 10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared
  • Certification of negative test results are provided
Hygiene Measures:
  • Practice frequent hand-washing
    • Alcohol-based hand sanitizers that contain at least 60% alcohol is an acceptable alternative
  • Avoid using any shared office supplies or supplies belonging to others
  • Sanitize areas that may be touched often, including workstations, equipment, doorknobs, and screens
